چکیده
Abstract In this study, we demonstrate that the addition of earthworm castings (EC) in kitchen waste composting reduces ammonia and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions improves compost maturity. Kitchen (KW) was mixed with sawdust at a ratio 7:3 as stock. Four treatments different proportions EC added (0%, 2.5%, 5.0%, 7.5% on basis initial mass) were designed utilized process lasting 85 days. The results showed GHG considerably reduced added. addition, amendment prolonged thermophilic stage shortened period. ammonia, methane, nitrous oxide by 61%, 48%, 94%, respectively, also indicating nitrogen conserved. Nitrogen major nutrients best preserved treatment, which produced product better nutrient profile. Furthermore, total global warming potential KW 74% using mixture EC. An effective reduction observed already 2.5% EC, but significant for treatment. Therefore, study suggest is an additive composting. More specifically, mass most recommendable mitigating effects improving quality.

Effect of pre-composting on vermicomposting of kitchen waste.
The aim of this work was to test combination of the thermocomposting and vermicomposting to improve the treatment efficiency and assess the optimum period required in each method to produce good quality compost. The results showed that pre-thermocomposting improved vermicomposting of kitchen waste. A 9-day thermocomposting prior to vermicomposting helped in mass reduction, moisture management a...
متن کاملSimplex-centroid mixture formulation for optimised composting of kitchen waste.
Composting is a good recycling method to fully utilise all the organic wastes present in kitchen waste due to its high nutritious matter within the waste. In this present study, the optimised mixture proportions of kitchen waste containing vegetable scraps (V), fish processing waste (F) and newspaper (N) or onion peels (O) were determined by applying the simplex-centroid mixture design method t...

The effect of various additives such as fly ash, phosphogypsum, jaggery, lime, and polyethylene glycol on green waste composting was investigated through assessing their influence on microbial growth, enzymatic activities, organic matter degradation, bulk density, quality of finished compost including gradation test, heavy metal analysis, etc. A perusal of results showed that addition of jagger...
متن کاملGreenhouse Gas Emissions from Food and Garden Waste Composting Effects of Management and Process Conditions
Composting is a robust waste treatment technology. Use of finished compost enables plant nutrient recycling, carbon sequestration, soil structure improvement and mineral fertiliser replacement. However, composting also emits greenhouse gases (GHG) such as methane (CH4) and nitrous oxide (N2O) with high global warming potential (GWP). This thesis analysed emissions of CH4 and N2O during composti...
